Auto Insurance Claims: Salvage Retention, total loss auto, salvage retention

I live in Georgia.  My car is a total loss.  My insurance will not let me keep the salvage if though I'm willing to pay for it.  Is this legal.  Don't they have to let me car.

You are right, they can't take your car away. However they can make a deduction for salvage value. The trick is to make them deduct the least amount for the salvage.
