Auto Insurance Claims: collision repair/not my fault, fender bender, leasing company

Hello there!  Recently was in a fender bender which was not my fault.  My car is now in the repair shop - the other parties' insurance is of course picking up the tab.  Here is my question - they refuse to pay for ORIGINAL HONDA replacement parts and are only willing to pay for after market parts - can they do this?  My car is a lease and I don't want any problems at the end of the term.  Also, if it's their fault and their responsibility to pay why do they feel they can force me to take something I don't want?  This surely can't be fair?!?

Hi Andy,

You should fight this strongly if the aftermarket parts include sheet metal. However, if the only aftermarket parts being utilized are radiator, a/c condenser or lamps, then don't sweat it.

But again, do not allow them to use any aftermarket sheet metal because they just do not fit properly on a Honda and the leasing company will ding you greatly at lease turn in.
