Auto Insurance Claims: Weather related accident, driver safety, safety course
QuestionMy 18 year daughter slid on bad roads and hit a curb. She has damage to her front axile. Her car is covered. If we file a claim, will her insurance go up since it was weather related. Concerned because of her age and having a license less than 1 year.
AnswerHi Barb-
Since it still had to do with driving it will count as a claim and will effect her rates. Quite significantly on a new driver. It may also prevent her from qualifying for any new driver safety discounts (some companies give a discount for watching a video or attending a new driver safety course).
The accidents that don't count against you are comprehensive claims which includes hitting an animal, having a tree fall on your car etc.
