Auto Insurance Claims: Parking lot hit and run, maughan, rear bumper
QuestionI found my rear bumper dented the other day and I can only assume is happened at some point earlier in the day while i was out shopping. I didn't see it until I came home making a police call pointless. The dent looks as though the bumper bent in and popped back out leaving the paint chipped where the impact was. Will filing a claim to have it fixed affect my rates?
AnswerC.D-
Rates only go up if you are at fault. There are limitations to claims sometimes though if it's a hit and run without any witnesses or identifiable at fault driver. From the insurance companies point of view, you could have backed into a pole and claimed it was hit and run. It won't hurt to find out if they will cover it. Just give it a try.
I hope that helps you.
