Auto Insurance Claims: Are Auto insurance adjusters subject to HIPPA laws, insurance adjusters, voice mails
QuestionI was in an auto accident last fall and currently trying to settle with the at fault party's insurance company. I gave the adjust my work telephone # to reach me at during my work hours. Rather than calling the # I gave her she called the # at the bottom of a fax I sent her which is actually my boss's cell phone. I never gave her permission to leave me messages at work in fact a week before I advised her I wanted to communicate by email in the future. She left voice mails with specific information such as the type of injury I sustained, where I was treated, the settlement offer, ect. What should I be doing with this information?
AnswerEveryone is subject to HIPPA laws. I doubt this would be considered a violation though. She called you at a number you provided. She did not know this was someone else's number. She did not provide good service, and made a mistake, but i doubt it is a violation of the law.
