QuestionQUESTION: I am dealing with the insurance company and they are trying to low ball me on the car price. Do you know of indenependent price accessors that can represent me in the case for a reasonable price.
ANSWER: Hi Neil,
You did not provide me with your city and state of residence.
Therefore, I can only provide you with one reference. This is NOT a recommendation, since I am not familiar with the firm, have never used their services or know anyone who has.
They advertise that they operate in all 50 states.
Go to www.collisionclaims.com/ to read about them and it's your decision to make.
You should be able to accomplish learning the fair market value yourself by checking Kelly Blue Book, NADA, your local used car lots and newspaper ads and then doing an average of their prices.
I hope this has been of help.
Sincerely,
Bennie

"Making the right adjustments to find the right public adjuster
There are two kinds of insurance adjusters out there: the insurance adjusters who work for insurance companies, and public adjusters. When your insured property is destroyed or when you have some other kind of insurance claim, your insurance company will send out an adjuster who works for them to investigate the claim and to negotiate how much the insurance company will settle the claim for. If you are not happy with the settlement the insurance company offered you you may want to consider hiring a public adjuster. Public insurance adjusters do not work for insurance companies, Public adjusters are hired independently by the claimant and so they work in the claimant’s interest. If you decide you want to hire public adjuster to help you out with a claim, you should first talk to your family and friends to see if they know of any public adjuster in your area who is known to do a good job working claims similar to yours. If not, then you should contact your state insurance department for a list of public adjusters in your area. (continued below)

Making the right adjustments to find the right public adjuster (continued)
You should use caution if hiring public adjusters who go door-to-door selling their services in neighborhoods and cities recently struck by natural disaster because they often can be unlicensed or fraudulent. If you are considering hiring such an adjuster, make sure they are licensed with your state insurance department. Once you have a list of public adjusters in your area, you should contact them. You should ask them how long they have been public adjusters as well as if they have ever worked on claims similar to your own, and, if so, how many. You should ask them whether they have dealt with your insurance company before, and, if so, to what extent. Once you have narrowed your list of potential public adjusters, you should visit the finalists. At their office, observe how attentive they are to your needs, and how well they understand your situation. You should also ask them for specifics about cases they have worked that are similar to your own, and how much money the obtained for their clients in such cases. You should also ask how much they charge. Many public adjusters will charge a commission of the settlement they reach with the insurance industry. Fifteen percent of the settlement is a fairly typical charge for public adjusters. In times of wide-spread disasters, the state may limit the amount independent public adjusters can charge their clients or limit the claim percentage they can charge. When you have found an adjuster who is licensed with the state, who has a good amount of experience working your kind of case and with your insurance company, who is attentive to you, and who charges a reasonable fee or percentage, then you have found the public adjuster for you."
Be reasonable, you can not expect an Insurance Agent to have personal knowledge of every independent adjustor in the US.
Your first question contained extremely minimal information,
and when I requested a city and state, you send me a zip code which took a full 20 minutes to trace to San Jose, Ca.
Based on the minimal information in your first question, I gave you the only possible response. I feel that your rating of 9-9-9-9 is a personal slap in the face and request that you write to
[email protected] Attn: Katie and change the rating to more acceptable numbers.
If you can't make a better rating on this particular answer, then please don't bother with a rating at all.
When volunteers such as myself sometimes spend hours answering a single question, we at least desire that you show some appreciation for our efforts and the only way you have to do that is to provide a fair rating of the answer from the information that you have provided.
Sincerely
Bennie
