Auto Insurance Claims: Diminished value claim, diminished value claim, leasing company
QuestionMy brand new 2011 Ford Limited Escape (fully loaded) was very badly rear ended (to the tune of nearly $11,000). It only had 4,000 miles on it at the time it happened. I've been driving a rental for a month. It is a leased vehicle. Can I still file a diminished value claim in the state of Pennsylvania?
AnswerHi Brenda,
Unfortunately, with a leased vehicle you are not considered to be the owner of the vehicle. Only the owner is considered to be the one that would suffer a diminishied value. So the leasing company would need to be the one to pursue a diminshed value claim.
I hope this helps
