Auto Insurance Claims: Insurance Policy rental coverage..GPS??, rental coverage, work purposes
QuestionMy vehicle has a built in GPS system which I use for work, I was recently involved in a car accident, and provided a rental car while my vehicle is repaired. Shouldn't my or the other driver's insurance cover a GPS for my rental since it is used for work purposes?
AnswerThere is a difference between the way each insurer would handle this. Your insurer would provide whatever your policy contract allows for. Normally this is a dollar limit and does not indicate a type of vehicle or features in the rental.
If the other driver caused the accident, his/her insurer owes you reasonable loss of use. In this case, you could make a good argument that you lost use of your gps and need it, so in my opinion, they should cover it.
