Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 2001 ford taurus heater, ford taurus, temperature gauge

when I turn on the heat there is heat for a minute then nothing but cold air.  The temperature gauge bottoms out and fumes from the anti freeze is coming through the vents, what oucld be the reason for this?

Hello Sorry to be brief but I am on leave, Sounds like you may have a leak in your water system if you can smell antifreeze.
Check your radiator level,
If you have wet carpets that could be a leaking heater
Matrix which is why you can smell antifreeze
The only slight mystery is why the engine is not overheating.
