QuestionMy 95 Camaro seems to have a bad blower motor. Last fall it was getting very noisy and this Spring when I took it out of storage it sounded like a blade broke off and was bouncing around -very loud-... My question is, where is the motor located and does is it an easy DIY fix to replace?
AnswerDano,
This is a very easy DIY.
--Remove the sound insulator beneath the right side of the instrument panel (on the bottom) -- it should be held in with 7mm screws at the front of the dash, and maybe a thumb screw at the back.
--Once under there, turn the system on to locate the motors' exact location in the case.
--Shut the system off, unplug the electrical connector, and remove the 3 mounting screws holding the blower motor in.
--with a light and mirror, or just feeling by hand, remove any debris or pieces that may reside in the case
--install the new motor, and reverse these steps!
note: some blower motors require you to transfer the 'squirrel cage' (fan) from the old to the new.
Good luck!
