I turned my air on the other day and it isn't working. I notice the clutch is not engaging when I turn on the air or the defroster. Is there a relay that may be bad or sticking shut? What would cause it not to engage? Thank you for your time [email protected]

Answer
On the side of the ACCUMULATOR (receiver/drier) there is a 2 wire electrical connector. Do the following:

1. start the vehicle.

2. Put the A/C ON.

3. Disconnect this above said 2 wire electrical connector and jumper the 2 wires together inside of the plug and see if the A/C compressor engages.

4. If it DOES, This would mean that you either have a leak in the A/C system and are low on FREON or the switch that you disconnected the 2 wire electrical wire from is faulty.
