QuestionOur 95 Diamante is equipped with the automatic climate control. It has progressively taken longer and longer for the system to start operating. It now takes 15-20 minutes or longer, sometimes is does not come on at all. Any ideas? Have owned the car for 2 years. Have had thermostat replaced in last few months.
AnswerThe FIRST thing that needs to be checked using a set of A/C gages is to see if there is enough freon in the system. If you have a leak in the system you will suffer a loss of freon and the a/C compressor will NOT operate.
1. start the engine.
2. set the A/C to 60 degrees.
3. Turn ON the blower to HIGH.
4. open the hood and look to see if the compressor is
running.
5. put your hands on the A/C hoses, Are any of them COLD
to the touch ?. If NOT, You most likely have a leak.
