QuestionI have a 1991 Ford Probe. It's got about 180,000 miles on it. Recently, the Air Conditioner fuse blows almost immediately after I turn on the A/C. The blower continues to work, but there is no cold air.
I have had the car since it had about 75,000 miles on it, and I have never replaced the compressor. I was wondering if bad bearings in the compressor could cause the air conditioner to blow the fuse, or if I just have a short in the wire. Do you think I should replace the compressor or go see an auto electrician? Or, do you think it could be related to something else?
I'd hate to buy a new compressor only to find out that it wasn't the problem.
AnswerFirst unplug the 2 wire electrical connector at the compressor and then turn on the A/C system like you normally would and see IF the fuse blows.
