Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: Heater core, 1987 nissan stanza, nissan stanza

1987 Nissan Stanza Tudor - can you direct me to a manual that will show me how to replace the heater core.  Tried the stop leak method - didn't work!  Currently have it by-passed but with winter coming, need to get it fixed.  Recent est from local shop was over $600 with $400 of that labor.  Next question= once I get the critter out, can it be repaired?  Thanks, Allen

The heater core is very hard to replace and NO it cannot be repaired it must be replaced.

This is a major time consuming complex repair that should not be attempted by anyone who is not familiar with your year and make of vehicle.

On a scale of 1 being EASY and 10 being HARD, I would have to put this project at about a 7 or 8.

Bite the bullet and have a knowledgeable reliable facility do it so it gets done correctly.
