Auto body repair & detailing: Auto body work, auto body work, rust inhibitor

2000 subaru 150thous. miles. About to attemt first try at body work . Have 1" X 4" hole  after wire brusing rust away from rear weel. Will fiberglass mesh work to repair hole need to stop rust for couple of years. Thanks  any more hints appreciated

I WOULD APPLY A RUST INHIBITOR  SOLD AT THE AUTO STORE...SOME YOU BRUSH ON. IT TAKES WHATEVER MINUTE RUST PARTICLES AND CHEMICALLY CHANGES THE RUST SO THAT IT DOES NOT SPREAD.

A FIBERGLASS PATCH SHOULD HOLD UP FOR A FEW YEARS FOR YOU.

AFTER PATCHING SAND DOWN SMOOTH AND APPLY PRIMER AND PAINT.
