QuestionQUESTION: I put 70% rubbing alcohol on the hood of my car to remove resin. Now I have whitish circles in that area. Is there any product to get rid of it or is the paint ruined.
ANSWER: HI,
Assuming you removed the resin and didn't do any damage to the paint, what you have left is resin smeared on the paint.
When I remove pine sap using alcohol, I immediately polish the are before the alcohol dries. This removes the leftover and I can see if I removed all the sap.
I hope this helps.
Thank you
Bob

QUESTION: How do I get rid of the leftover resin that left a whitish color on my silver paint without using alcohol? Someone told me that alcohol damages the paint job and I would have to get my hood painted? Is there a better way to get rid of dried on resin that won't damage the paint?
AnswerIf your car has a factory clearcoat paint, alcohol will not harm the finish unless you press to hard and scratch the finish.
Use plenty of alcohol and a soft towel.
If you still have questions about the finish, seek the advice of a good body shop or detailer.
