Auto body repair & detailing: Rust bubbles, rust bubbles, literature section
QuestionI am restoring a 1954 Hudson. On the front of the hood where it meets the grill and on the lower portion of the driver side door, there are rust bubbles. I have chipped several of the bubbles away and it does not go all the way through. For the challenge of it, I want to do as much of the repair as I can. How do I proceed to eliminate and repair these bubbled areas? Thanks for whatever help you can provide
AnswerI can promise you that these bubles go all the way through. Take an awl, and I bet you can bump it through by striking it with the palm of your hand. Year one has a book in the literature section called how to restore your collector car. I highly recomend you purchase it, and don't go through this project blind. At minimum, you need a lead repair here but more likely you need to do some patch work. I can't teach you how to do restoration quality patchs on classic cars in an email. Bill
