Auto body repair & detailing: painting chromed plastic, chromed plastic, etch primer

Question
Wanted to know if the is any special prep work needed to paint a chromed plastic grill. Other than sanding. Is there a prep spray for plastic?

The chrome is actually a thin layer of metal on the grille. You could try sanding it with 400 grit sand paper and use a etch primer but I don't think it Will stick very well But You could try it.
