QuestionHaving been a auto painter in the 1950's so I am now out of touch with todays paints.
Then we had two basic paints lacqure and emamale.
I understand now most paints are two or three part paints.
I have a Plymouth Prowler and want to paint so after market parts to match the original silver color.
What are the different options I have ?
Quick dry, slow dry ect. Any online material I can read will be a big help ! Thanks for thr help!
AnswerRoland,
Sikkens and ICI base coats are similar to lacquer in how they dry but they are completely different also. We suggest using a fast dry reducer in the base coat. Then you will have to apply a clearcoat. We like a brand named Cumberland Overall and we use a fast hardener and fast reducer. This is a rather inexpensive clear coat system.
The Sikkens and ICI base coats are the best products out there but they can cost a little more than others.
Thank you,
Mike and Lisa
