Auto Glass: Replace window on 96 Neon, flathead screwdriver, crank handle
QuestionWe have the door panel "popped" but are at a loss on how to get the window crank handle off. Does it just pop off also or is there a trick to it. My husband does not want to force it in case it breaks. Car is a'96 Neon, 4 door. Window broken is driver side front . Thank for your help.
AnswerHi Carol,
Your husband is right. Do not force it off. The window crank is held in place by a "U" shaped spring clip. You can buy window crank removal tools at a local auto parts store. Otherwise, press in the door panel, turn the handle until you see the prongs of the clip, and use a small flathead screwdriver to push one side of the clip off. The clip will pop off, so be careful not to lose it.
