Auto Glass: leaking windshield, auto glass company, wet seats

i have a 94 explorer and the windshield leaks when it rains - bad !! i have replaced the stereo twice because it got rained on and ruined. now it is getting worse and i get wet seats :(
i have tried various sealants on the top edge of windshield with some short term benefit but what can i do to fix it for good?

Hi Cynthia,

You should take the vehicle to a local auto glass company.  The sealants available at local auto parts stores are not going to be a permanent fix for a leak of that size.  Stay away from sealants that contain silicone as well.  Has the windshield ever been replaced?  Without seeing the vehicle, I would say that you have a poorly installed windshield, pinchweld rust, or a combination of the two.  I would get it checked out ASAP to prevent further damage and to make sure the windshield is bonded securely.
