Hi, what vacuum formable plastics are suitable for air cleaner boxes that mount to throttle bodies.

Hi Chris,plastics as polystyrene,ABS,PMMA and others, traditionally processed by making use of vacuum,are inadequate for the application that you suggest. Air cleaner boxes are exposed to heat,solvents oil etc.Therefore they have to be injected parts with flame retardants incorporated and plenty of ribs to ensure dimensional stability.That is why manufacturers use Polypropylene+glass fiber(up to 40%) and Polyamides(Nylon).Thanks
