Car Alarms: viper 479v remote, valet mode, chirp

i am having trouble getting the remote to work with my alarm when i got the car there was no remote. i want to pair the new one with the alarm.the module is viper 790xv and the remote is 479v. i know the remote works with it but i don't hear a chirp and am wondering if its stuck on valet mode
