Car Alarms: nordic car alarm, chev truck, precise answer

I have a 99 Chev Truck bought from private sale...there is a nordic alarm/command start that needs reprogramming/resetting...is there any way to do this without having to bring it to a shop? I've tried some of the online suggestions like turning key 8 times and pushing buttons but it hasn't worked...i hear it do a clicking and it flashes after 5 turns of the key but then i get nothing...maybe i don't have the right combination of buttons to push? idk...
