Car Alarms: Auto Mate Alarm (EZSDEI476)

Question
Why isn't my alarm chirping when set on/off? The car lights flashes when alarm is set on/off but, no chirps.
The alarm was installed in my Mazda at the Dealer when purchased in 1999. Is there a way to reset the alarm.  Thanks for your help.
