Car Alarms: 2005 Nissan Altima Factory Alarm, 2005 nissan altima, nissan altima

My alarm suddenly stopped working. I press the remote to unlock or lock and arm the alarm and nothing happens. I have to manually unlock the car and I changed the remote battery and it didn't seem to solve the problem. The in dash light is flashing but nothing seems to be working. What can this mean?
