Car Alarms: Rover 618 (yr1998) alarm fault, light switches, rover 618

Hello, wonder if you can help please. I have a Rover (not Range/Land) 618 made in 1998 and I have got a problem with the factory fitted alarm system. The central locking works fine via turning the lock barrel with the key, but the alarm does not appear to set itself. I have checked the operation of all courtesy light switches for the doors, aswell as the switches for the boot and fitted to the bonnet catch. All okay. I have checked the fuses, again all okay. I have checked the microswitch operated by the turn of the lock barrel.......works fine but I am still left with no indication of the alarm setting ( usually a visual indication of indicators/repeaters flashing when setting the alarm and then LEDs blinking to show alarm is armed).
Any ideas please as to what I should do next? Thanks
