Car Alarms: 1991 Mercury Cougar Factory Alarm Going off For No Reason, mercury cougar, remote start

I have a 1991 Mercury Cougar LS 3.8L V6. It has a factory installed Ford anti-theft/remote start system. Recently, when the doors are locked, the alarm will go off for no reason at all. Sometimes it takes seconds to go off after locking the door, sometimes a few hours. I do not want to disable the system completely, because I use the remote start in the winter. If anyone has a suggestion as to what might solve the problem please help. Thanks

Then change it out. There is no real way
to seperate the 2 if it's a Combo system.
Oh, and it's not a factory remote starter alarm.
No such animal back then. ;>)

But still, take out what you have there and just
install a simple remote starter. It's
do a better job if security is not an issue.
