Car Alarms: Checkmate Alarm, toyota 4runner, 4runner

Question
I have a Checkmate alarm system in a Toyota 4runner. When the key is in the ignition, and you step out of the car, all the doors lock.  How can this problem be alleviated?  Is there a way to adjust it?
Any help/thoughts are appreciated!
