Car Alarms: Star Guard Alarm System, vw cabrio, star guard

I have  a  1998 VW  Cabrio that  has  the Star  Guards  alarm  system.  It  is  malfuctioning  and   I   can't  start  the  car.  I  want  to  disable  the  system  is  there a  valet  switch  to  do  that  under  the  dash  etc?    Dale  Bouck
