Car Alarms: toad alarm, seat cordoba 98, toad alarm

i had my battery changed today (seat cordoba, 98, 1.6) and when i tried to disarm the alarm to actually drive the thing, the doors unlock, but the alarm starts sirening. however, the imoboliser is not on and i can drive the car still, and the alarm stops after a while. however when i get out again, the alram sets itself off again. its a toad Ai600 as far as i am aware (i have a small manual with it but it really doesnt tell me much, and i bought the car around 3 months ago now). did they install the battery incorrectly at the garage? i am very confused at what to do and its quite embarrassing appearing incompetent when really i am not! kind regards, Tim :)
