Car Alarms: Prestige Car Alarm, prestige car, flip switch

For some reason my car won't start.  I believe it has something to do w/ the car alarm.  I have a toggle switch under the wheel that goes up and down.  I have put it in both positions and pressed the buttons on the alarm.  I am not sure what I am doing exactly.  I just want to disable the alarm so that I can rule out if it is the alarm or not causing the problem

Make sure you do the procedure correctly.
Might have missed a step:

KEY ON JUST BEFORE CRANKING ENGINE.
PRESS IN AND HOLD UNTIL YOU GET A RESPONCE
FROM THE ALARM.
KEY OFF.

This should toggle the alarm in and out of
valet/override.

If toggle type switch.
KEY ON, FLIP SWITCH, KEY OFF,
START THE CAR.
