Car Alarms: How to by pass a viper alarm system on a 93 Chevy Silverado?, viper alarm system, keyless entry systems

I'm trying to sell a 93 Chevy Silverado, but I lost the chip which allows you to start the truck. I was told that I need to just find the hot wire from the ignition and by pass the alarm. Is this true?
