I have a 97 mustang and the anti-theft system will not let the car start, is there a way to reset the code or to reset the key without having to take it to a dealership?

No sorry, you can not correct the PATS ignition fuel cut off
circuit on your own. :>(

The igntion and key need to be re programmed at FORD.

Sorry about that. Once done however, a bypass can then be done
using a programmed key and a relay, or a keyless bypasskit
from www.BYPASSMODULES.com to keep the PATS inert
until the module is removed (if ever).
