QuestionI have a used 1999 mercury cougar
Can my car alarm system cause my car shut off sometimes??
I thought it was the alternator but i have a new battery and the mechanic said the alternator was fine. He said it might be a shortage in my alarm system causing the car to shut off.
but the alarm works fine..
However my radio does have shortage problems.
Is it possible for it to be the alarm or the radio system causing these problems??
thanx
AnswerDoubtful. Sounds like he's "passing the buck".
Alarms do not shut down engines when driving.
If it has starter kill, then it would
be unable to crank it at all.
Hard to say without inspection though.
I suggest someone with alarm installation
experience locat and test yours.
Good luck.
