QuestionI was looking at purchasing a valet remote start for my jeep and I called circuit city about installing it for me and the guy said that if my key didn't have a chip in it (which it doesn't) that I needed to go to jeep and have them make me a key with a chip and then they install it and that I had to purchase a bypass module. I was just curious if the chip in the key was necessary? Thanks~
AnswerThe guy has his head up his ass.
He is very wrong in this instance.
(should be selling ice cream, not installing!)
Tell him I told you so. Pisses me off!
No NOT needed.
This is a straight forward install. You will have to disable
the factory noise making/headlight flashing "OEM" alarm,
but any good remote starter will have a wire that
will disarm it during the remote start cycle.
If doing door locks, they are positive trigger,
and will likely need relays. But that's the
extent of it.
Get a decent system at www.startbyremote.com
and be happy (and save a bunch o cash too! :>) )
Have a good one.
