QuestionI bought a 2000 used Malibu from a private owner. It had keyless remote, but someone took the keys and keyless remote. A locksmith was called to remake a key. Now I want to get the keyless remote working again. Assuming it had a factory installed keyless remote, I bought two used remotes with programming instructions. However, I could never get into the programming mode using two different sets of programming instructions provided by the Internet dealer that I bought the used remotes from.
I investigate further under the dash and found the unit and it has 2 items, a smaller switch of sorts and a larger module which has nothing except fcc ID which is EZS249564. This unit has a tag "ok/1c". I also found a hidden push button switch which I believe to also associated with the unit. Can you please help me find out about this unit? Will the factory remotes work with some "special" programming instructions? Or do I need a different type of remote? Where can I get them? Should the installer have provided the orginal owner some information about this after-market remote? The previous owner gave me all the receipts that he had accumulated. There was one receipt for part # 12490830 TRANSMITT 2.195 206 for $23 in March '04. This purchase was from a Chevrolet dealership. Thanks for your help.
