Alarm problem causing issues with car running, will run but backfires and sputters. Hard to start, Can't get alarm to turn off.

Answer
It's likely the original VATS passlock system.
You will need to have GM examine and reset it, or you won't get very
far.

As far as bypassing it, can't really be done without
the engine being able to start currently.

Sorry, it's a catch 22 on these cars.

Call the GM service dept. to discuss the repair.
