Car Alarms: car alarms, vw service, car alarms

I have a 2001 Cabrio. My car horn & emergency lights keep going off. It stops for a little while & then starts again. I am driving some one elses  car since I did not know what is wrong I did not want to worry with traveling & the car shutting off... So what does this mean?

Hard to say exactly, but I do suggest, if this is
indeed the factory alarm, that you please take it
into the local VW service shop and have them
inspect/evaluate and reset/repair/report just what it is
that's wrong, malfunctioning, or just what.

Tricky systems in these cars. They should
get a shot at remedying this for you (easiest way really!).

If it turns out to be after market, let me know.
