Car Alarms: Alarm sensitivity, alarmtek, bmw 328is

QUESTION: I have a 99 BMW 328is with all original components. The alarm goes off if someone slams a door. Is there a way to reduce the sensitivity? Engaging the alarm is also very loud (lock and unlock beeps) can I turn down the volume of them?

ANSWER: Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: I can't seem to get the alarm to go off when I want to...but I believe it is sirens and flashing lights. When I lock and unlock the car there is a (double)chirp

Answer
It may need to be inspected for the door trigger
wire mis connection/malfuntion.

I suggest you take this to a local
alarm install shop for evaluation and trouble shooting
this issue to correct it.

If not, it will go on, and may progress to not
operating under any circumstance.
