Car Alarms: NIssan Pathfinder 1997 Alarm issue, jumper cable, alarmtek

I have a Nissan Pathfinder 1997 - battery died last night and I tried to reenergize with a jumper cable - but the factory installed alarm system is going off and the car wont start.  How can I disable the alarm system to start the car. When I have it hooked to another battery it gets power as the lights do come on

Please tell me what you are experiencing.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
Is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
"going off"?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action.
