QuestionQUESTION: Why does my 2000 VW Beetle alarm go off at random? If I lock the passenger door with the key, it does not go off. If I use the remote button or lock the driver door, it will go off.
ANSWER: Please tell me what you are experiencing.
I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.
Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
Is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
"going off"?
Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action.

QUESTION: it is flashing parking lights, an LED in the dash area, and a siren going off.
AnswerThere is a conflict between the aftermarket
alarm and the factory system.
You should only be using the aftermarket remote
and not the key or the vw remote.
Also, I suggest you take the car into the nearest stereo/car alarm shop and have them wire
the aftermarket alarm to disarm the factory system
at the same time to resolve the conflict.
Best I can offer at the moment until you
can get an inspection.
Good luck.
