Car Alarms: Prestige APS787, starter wire, vehicle electronics
QuestionQUESTION: I own a 1998 I30 Infiniti and just installed the Prestige APS787, when the engine is warm the remote starter starts my car ok, but after a while when the engine cools down, specially in the morning, and I try to remote start my car it just start cranking and I am not able to start it. Why do you think might be the problem??
ANSWER: This sounds like you did not hook up both starter wires. Your car has 2 starter wires, one is the standard and one is for cold starts.

QUESTION: Thank you,
This alarm was installed for me in another State, and can you tell me how do I do this my self or if there is any diagram so I could do it?
AnswerIf you are comfortable with vehicle electronics it would be a fairly simple addition if you have the installation manual. You would just need a single relay activated by a negative starter output connected to a fused constant supply and the output to the second starter wire. If you are not familiar with vehicle electronics, I would contact the original installation shop and see if they would reimburse you for having it repaired at a local Audiovox installer.
