Car Alarms: Reseting Alarm wont work, botton, valet

I have read on a couple of threads that to reset alarm to put the key in and press the valet botton until it goes solid.  My problem is that my remote is broken, and I am trying to connect the battery back up.  Everytime I connect the battery the alarm goes off.  I have tried the reset procedure but it does not work.  Do you have any other suggestions.

I do not know if this is will work, but some alarms will not arm if they see the ignition on when reconnecting the battery.  Give it a shot and let me know if it does not work.  If it does not work, post the exact make and model of the system and I will see what I can find for you.
