Car Alarms: 97 subaru outback alarm, subaru outback, vehicle interior

My friend has an Outback and would like to disable the security alarm. Can this be done easily? And will the car still start when it's disabled?

The 97 Impreza Outback did not come with a factory installed security system.  The system in your friend's car was either installed by the dealer or an aftermarket shop.  If you can get me the exact make and model of the alarm I might be able to offer some assistance.  The unit would normally be mounted under the driver's side of the vehicle interior.
