QuestionI have a 98 Honda Civic with an after market alarm system and starter.
Everything was working great until this past Monday. The alarm will not
respond and the starter will not work. I tried using both Keychain devices
and nothing. I read your acticle on disableling the alarm by putting the key
then clicking the switch and removing the key in 5 seconds, but it doesn't
work. I tried it various times. Arming it and Disarming it position, I don't
hear that chirping sound you say it does and it doesn't let me start the car.
I dont know what to do, I can't use the car, can you help me with any info, I
would appreciate it
Thanks
AnswerIt's
KEY ON, ALL THE WAY FORWARD, JUST BEFORE CRANKING,
IF IT'S A PUSH BUTTON TYPE SWITCH, HOLD IN FOR UP
TO 6 SECONDS. AFTER THAT, THEN THE ALARM WOULD CHIRP
ONCE. THAT'S VALET/RESET/OVERIDE.
IF IT'S A TOGGLE TYPE SWITCH, KEY ON,
ALL THE WAY FORWARD, JUST BEFORE CRANKING,
FLIP THE SWITCH IN THE OPOSITE DIRECT 1 TIME
(ONCE) AND THAT SHOULD RESET IT.
THE CAR SHOULD START AT THIS POINT.
I hope this helped to clear it up.
