Car Alarms: im confused, valet mode, toyota celica

i bought a 2000 Toyota Celica and it had a car alarm in in. I don't know what what kind it is but when i hit the button for the alarm on the remote nothing happens i was wondering where the valet switch would need to be.

The valet switch could be almost anywhere in the car, I try to mount them in a place that would be somewhat difficult to find if you were in a hurry.  The switch is normally either a small push button or small toggle switch.  To engage and disengage valet mode you must have the key in the run position.
