Car Alarms: Car Battery Dead/Cant disable alarm, valet mode, prestige alarm
QuestionI have not started my car for 2 weeks (out of town). It is a 2002 Honda Accord. When I tried to unlock this morning I noticed that my Prestige Alarm/Remote Start key FOB was dead. I didn't think it was a big deal because I don't set the alarm very often. When I unlocked the door using the key the alarm started but just a constant beep...not the regular alarm. The only way I could get it to stop was to put the key in the ignition to the accessories turn. When I replaced the battery in the key FOB it came on but the neither the unlock, lock, or remote start worked. Now the nothing is happening. I am thinking the car battery is completely dead. Do I need to worry about disconnecting the alarm before I get a new battery? Is it okay to try to jump? Thanks!
AnswerIf the car's power system is not right, niether will the arm be. I would replace the car battery, and if you remember how, put the alarm into service/overide/valet mode.
Then once reset, repeat the step for armed mode, and
see if it all came back.
I think it's a power problem.
Check that first.
