Car Alarms: Chev. alarm reset, vats, security reasons

2003 Chev. 2500 pu, need to reset key fob alarm transmitter after replacing battery, can I do it myself or does it have to be done by dealer?

It's a VATS/PASSLOCK coded key and will
need the dealership to program it to your ignition.
Don't forget proof of ownership, since it is
done by the registered VIN #/owner of the vehicle
or GM won't do it for you.
