Car Alarms: alpine car alarm, alpine car, replacement remotes

Question
if your remote seems to have  broken can i just buy a new one?
is it cost effective to try and fix an alarm or should a new one be bought and installed

If the alarm is operating normally other than having a bad remote I would suggest purchasing a new remote.  Unless you are looking at a system that does more than your current system, I feel it would not be worth the extra cost of a new system.  Check out eBay, and this site http://www.autotechs.com/subcat43.htm for replacement remotes.
